Watercolour - Oils

from Australia's Mornington Peninsula

Within movement there is often a point of stillness.

These images seek to explore that point in time; the magpie listening for her mate; the swimmer immersed underwater; a certain stillness where nature is all encompassing.

Particularly intriguing is the way in which the watercolour pigment granulates and flows onto, and into various paper surfaces. Equally fascinating is the transparent quality of watercolours, and multiple glazing techniques to build up form.

The fluid, unpredictable nature of  the medium becomes a tool for experimentation and imaginings; inviting the observer to pause, take a moment… and see beauty.
